What are the X Amplifiers?They are stand-alone Peachtree Audio power amplifiers that utilize the NCore X 500 module from Hypex. Hypex is a premier designer and OEM supplier for class-D power amplifier modules. The Stereo X power amplifier utilizes the exact same power amplifier section we designed into the Carina X (2 modules and 1 power supply). And the Mono X utilizes the NCore X 500 module but adds a dedicated power supply for each channel (1 module and 1 power supply) for even more power.More about NCore XSince its inception in 2011, the Hypex NCore technology has been a leader in high-performance Class D amplification. While it set a high standard, Hypex’s continuous pursuit of improvement eventually led to Nilai — their most advanced Class D technology. Elements of Nilai, particularly the improved loop filter, were applied to NCore to create NCore X. This refinement increased loop gain by 6dB in the top two octaves and added some additional gain below that. This gave designers more leeway to optimize various parameters while retaining exemplary audio performance. The result: >60dB error correction across the entire audio band, reducing distortion from the power stage and output filter, with >75dB loop gain ensuring ultra-low harmonic and intermodulation distortion with negligible output impedance. The NCx500 is a superior amplifier module providing an astounding 2x better noise reduction and THD compared to its predecessor, the NC500.Why did we make the X Amplifiers?To give consumers the option to add this exciting new technology to their system as inexpensively and simply as possible. Over the past five years, class-D technology has advanced to the point where a few select designs were outperforming the best class A and class A/B power amplifiers we have ever heard. This journey began with our groundbreaking Gallium-Nitride power DAC solution, the GaN-1, in 2022 and continues today with the X amplifiers.
